Who is this course for?
In this workshop you will learn how to drill sea glass and form silver findings in order to create your own unique seaglass jewellery. Under the guidance of silversmith Kate Hunter Parker, you will learn to form silver earring hooks, headpins and jump rings using the methods of annealing, forming and soldering. You will also explore some simple wirework techniques that will complement and bring your seaglass design to life.
All materials and tools are provided. If you did want a different shape or weight of silver there will be some available, there may be a small additional cost for this. There will also be silver necklaces available to purchase.
Please feel free to bring your own sea glass along if you want to use some special pieces you have collected.
This is a 2.5 hour class. Suitable for all learners but some dexterity would be beneficial.
What does the course cover?
During the course you will learn how to drill sea glass and create silver earring hooks, headpins and jump rings, by learning how to anneal, form and solder. You will create your own unique designs and will be supported to bring these designs to life. We will also be covering some basic wire working techniques so you can make your pieces unique.
What is included in the fee?
The fee includes tuition, the use of tools and equipment and all the materials (if you want a different shape or weight of silver there will be some available, there may be a small additional charge) If you want to bring your own sea glass along that’s fine, although there will be lots available for you to choose from.
There is a maximum of 6 students per class to ensure individual attention.
